Fought For A Medal, Won A Diploma

Fought for a medal, won a diploma

Alessandra Keller put in a great race in Paris. The 28-year-old fought for a medal for a long time. Until a flat tire set her back. Nevertheless, Keller won a diploma in 7th place.

It was an extremely exciting women’s race on a very fast course. Keller was in a large group that was behind the podium for a long time – always within reach of the medal places. At the latest after Loana Lecomte (Fra) was caught, crashed a little later and second-placed Puck Pieterse (Ned) also dropped back due to a flat tire, the medal fight for silver and bronze was completely open again.

Happy with the performance, unhappy with the placing

It was also the moment when Alessandra Keller got better and better in the race. But when everything came together again, it happened: “I wanted to ride to the front of the group. I took too much risk and made a mistake and got a flat tire,” Alessandra looked back on the mishap at the finish. Despite the disappointment, there was also a positive conclusion: “Seventh is okay. I fought to the end and 7th place was all I could do. I’m happy with my performance, but of course I had hoped for more then this place.”

The French top favorite Pauline Ferrand-Prévot was the clear winner. Silver went to Haley Batten (USA) and bronze to Jenny Rissveds (Swe).
