ABOUT THÖMUS AKROS
YoungStars

The vision of the Thömus maxon Swiss Mountain Bike Racing Team is based on the premise that a team can only be successful in the long term through the comprehensive promotion of young talent. From this vision, the Thömus Akros YoungStars were born. Under the leadership of Marcel Kuratli, twelve ambitious young athletes between the ages of 15 and 21 will compete in national and international mountain bike races this season.

The step-by-step approach to top-level sport and the transfer of knowledge with the Thömus maxon Swiss Mountain Bike Racing Team will create a long-term partnership and a broad-based project for young mountain bikers.

The Team

Ginia Caluori, 2002, Bonaduz GR

The 20-year-old from Grisons has only been competing in mountain biking for about a year. The former skier proved her talent on the mountain bike last year and is riding with verve and joy. She has completed her Matura and will soon begin her studies in Sports Science.

Lara Liehner, 2006, Ottikon ZH

The upbeat 16-year-old from Zurich still goes to school. You can often find her in nature in her free time and she likes to go jogging.

Loris Hättenschwiler, 2005, Uerkheim AG

The humorous Loris Hättenschwiler is doing his apprenticeship as a polymechanic. He also spends a lot of time “on the air” with teammates on his enduro bike, and when he doesn’t have two wheels under him, he takes pictures of animals.

Sirin Städler, 2006, Hinterforst SG

The cheerful 16-year-old Sirin is currently still in school. In the summer, she will start an apprenticeship as a businesswoman. She likes to be outside with her teammates and spend time with her family in her free time. She is looking forward to her first year as a rider with the Thömus Akros Youngstars Team.

Monique Halter, 2004, Herisau AR

The young girl from Herisau is doing an apprenticeship as an automation technician. When she’s not on her bike, she’s cross-country skiing or baking something delicious in the kitchen.

Romano Püntener, 2004, Schaan FL

The friendly 18-year-old from Liechtenstein is currently training to become a bicycle mechanic. He is interested in everything to do with bikes: in every spare minute, he takes care of his material or polishes his excellent technique. Romano is very helpful and always ready to have fun.

Chiara Solèr, 2005, Lumbrein GR

She gives everything for the sport. On the racecourse, she is often mistaken for Sirin Städler, but as soon as you hear her talking, her dialect is unmistakable. She loves the trails around Lumbrein and speaks Romansh!

Mauro Hassler, 2005, Chur GR

The young man from Grisons is currently training to be a businessman. Mauro has been one of the best in his year in Swiss mountain bike sport for several years. In addition to biking, the 16-year-old enjoys drinking coffee and going cross-country skiing in the winter months. Mauro often films his home trails around Chur with his GoPro camera to share on social media.

Roman Holzer, 2003, Ennetmoos NW

The Junior Vice European Champion 2021 is uncompromising and biting to his competitors. The apprentice businessman celebrated many successes last season, including World Cup races. We are happy to accompany him this year in the U23 class.

The Management

As a teenager, Marcel raced BMX. Today, he is the team manager of the Thömus RN Young Stars, proving that successful cycling careers can also look like this. With a lot of heart, soul, and endless commitment, he founded the team in 2019 and was already able to reflect on many successful hours with his protégés after the first season. Marcel has been a promoter of young talent from the very beginning. He is a stroke of luck for the Thömus RN Young Stars athletes.

Ourmechanic

When time permits, the Liechtensteiner likes to spend time on the mountain bike. In his spare time, he also likes to pass on his technical riding skills to others. Gary has already supported our team in the 2022 season as a mechanic and has shown what he can do. We are happy that our bikes will also be in good hands with Gary in the future.
