On the way to World Championship gold: new partners and technical optimizations

With the new bike season just around the corner, the Thömus maxon Swiss Mountain Bike Team is delighted to welcome new and innovative partners on board. The common goal: Gold at the home World Championships in Valais!

«Never change a winning team!» The successes of recent years confirm this motto. With four of the best Swiss MTB pros and nine talented young riders, Team Thömus maxon wants to compet at the home world championships in Crans-Montana – with the clear goal of fighting for gold.

Thömus maxon is starting the year 2025 with a mix of proven equipment and a few new innovations. One thing is clear: in terms of innovation and technical equipment, Ralph Näf’s team is already one of the international leaders in MTB sport before the first competition of the season.

From the ski slopes to the MTB trails with X-BIONIC

The new clothing supplier will be the Swiss brand X-BIONIC, which is already extremely successful in skiing and is currently providing success story after success story with skiing star Marco Odermatt. The best skier of our time is not only winning with X-BIONIC, but has also been an investor since last fall. In the future, X-BIONIC wants to be successful not only on the narrow skis in the snow, but also on the fat tires on the trails.

X-BIONIC and Thömus maxon are united by a belief in innovation that keeps the body in the optimum performance zone through thermoregulation and cooling. The Swiss clothing brand ensures that the core body temperature is kept at a constant 37 degrees. «With our patented and cooling technologies, we enable Alessandra Keller, Mathias Flückiger and co. to fully focus on the race. We’ll take care of the rest,» says X-BIONIC CEO Maximilian Lenk about the new partnership. The new Thömus maxon team jersey shines in classic Thömus red, but has modern accents that give it a fresh, contemporary look.

«A real game changer»

The technical innovations and technologies have also convinced team boss Ralph Näf: «If you want to win in cross-country sport, you have to be able to cool – and cool properly! Thermoregulation is one of the key factors for success today. What particularly impresses us is that the cooling system is not just a nice extra, but a real game changer for the sport.»

UXAN and Centris now on board

Thömus maxon is also entering the future stronger in terms of partnerships. The young company UXAN Sports AG, based in Thun, Switzerland, was founded last year by entrepreneur and sports promoter Beat Fahrni with a clear vision: «We want to help companies, sports clubs, associations and individual athletes to focus on their core business and develop their full potential,» explains Fahrni. With a combination of entrepreneurial skills, a comprehensive network and a sporting mindset, UXAN acts as a “coach” in all relevant areas of a club’s organization. Coupled with the UXAN Skills and UXAN Campus areas, the company will be a strong and extremely suitable partner at Thömus maxon’s side.

Centris, the specialist for digitalization in the healthcare sector, is expanding the Thömus maxon family. The Swiss company has been supporting the team for two years and has now become an official team sponsor.

Continued work with market leaders and optimizations in the technical set-up

The team’s two long-standing partners Thömus and maxon continue to be presenting partners and at the same time suppliers to the team. Thömus now has the slogan “Bikes of Switzerland” and will be launching a new era with its twelve BikeWorld stores on March 1. maxon, the well-known Swiss electric motor manufacturer, has worked with the team to develop an e-drive that is suitable for specific XCO training. Ralph Näf’s team also continues to work with strong technical partners DT Swiss, Shimano and Schwalbe – three real market leaders who always focus on performance optimization. Shimano is now also equipping the team with bike shoes. The technical set-up is also optimized by the lowerable seat post from KS Suspension.
