Prestigious victory for Forster at the start of the season
Perfect start to the new season for Team Thömus maxon! Lars Forster wins the prestigious HC race in Banyoles (Spa) ahead of Charly Aldridge (Gbr) and Victor Koretzky (Fra). Vital Albin impressed with a strong tenth place, ensuring a perfect start to the season.
Lars Forster and Vital Albin were the first riders from the Thömus maxon to start the 2025 racing season. The pair proved that they had done their homework over the winter. At the Shimano Super Cup race in Banyoles, which has been something of a mini World Cup for many years, Lars Forster took a star finish victory and Vital Albin established himself in the top 10.
“I just went at my own pace”
In muddy and slippery conditions, which challenged both equipment and rider, 31-year-old Lars Forster put in an impressive performance. He took the lead shortly after the start and maintained a lead of around 15 seconds to the finish. “A perfect day,” said Lars Forster after the award ceremony, visibly satisfied. “After an intensive training camp, I didn’t expect to feel so good. I didn’t want to lead the race so early on. But once I was in front, I just kept up my pace,” Forster recapped after his first win of the season.
Vital Albin also drew a positive conclusion: “It was a very strong race, where everyone was a little nervous after a long winter. It was incredibly muddy and the technical sections were really difficult to ride. 10th place is a great result for me.”
