Dominant overall victory at the Cape Epic
Alessandra Keller and Candice Lill (Thömus maxon – Sabi Sabi) look back on an exceptionally successful week at the Cape Epic: After eight days, the duo secured the overall victory at the prestigious stage race in South Africa—and did so with impressive dominance.
Keller and Lill underscored their strength one last time on the final stage: They crossed the finish line after a solo ride, celebrating their seventh stage victory of the race. Their overall lead grew to nearly 53 minutes by the finish—a clear sign of the team’s exceptional performance.
More than just a victory
For Alessandra Keller, this success marks a perfect debut at this prestigious race: she secured the overall victory on her very first attempt. Beyond the sporting triumph, this success also held a deeper, personal meaning for Alessandra Keller: «What began as a shared project and adventure has become something very special. Of course, we wanted to be successful on the track—but alongside the victory, we’ve gained something far more valuable: a true friendship,» she said, visibly moved.
This victory is also particularly meaningful for Candice Lill. After finishing second several times in the past, the South African has finally realized her big dream in front of her home crowd. Her emotions are evident in her post-race interview. With tears in her eyes, Lill says, «Finally! I’ve experienced so many disappointments here, and I’m incredibly grateful that the people around me have always believed in me.»
This shared success underscores the strong teamwork within the “Thömus Maxon Sabi Sabi” team and marks a significant milestone in Alessandra Keller’s career.
