Flückiger Wins Swiss Season Opener At Tamaro Trophy

Flückiger wins Swiss season opener at Tamaro Trophy

Team Thömus maxon looks back on a thoroughly successful start to the Swiss season as part of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup: Mathias Flückiger secured a commanding victory at the Tamaro Trophy in Rivera; Vital Albin finished a strong fourth.

Flückiger pulled away decisively early in the race. The silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics took the lead on the second lap and controlled the race on the technically demanding course with impressive consistency and strength all the way to the finish.

«That gives me a lot of confidence»

«I felt really good, and it makes me happy to get this win today. We changed our strategy in preparation for the World Cups, and wins like today’s are an important step toward our first major goals of the season. That gives me a lot of confidence,» said Flückiger, clearly delighted after the race.

Behind Finn Treudler and Fabio Püntener, who finished in second and third place, Vital Albin secured an excellent fourth-place finish on the podium. Albin was rewarded for a consistent race in which he steadily worked his way up the field, gaining position after position. Lars Forster, on the other hand, started strong but didn’t have the perfect day and also had to make a pit stop in the tech zone; he ultimately finished in 11th place.
