Vital Albin with a strong performance on the podium
At the C1 race of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup in Savognin, Vital Albin secured a strong 4th-place finish. This is an important result for Albin, as the past few weeks had not gone as planned.
Vital Albin took advantage of the opportunity to compete in a race practically on his doorstep. In midsummer temperatures, the course in Val Surses—with its significant elevation gain and technically demanding descents—challenged the athletes in various ways.
Albin deliberately started off cautiously and found his rhythm starting on the second lap. Albin moved up position by position. While the Swiss trio of Püntener, Schätti, and Guerrini dominated at the front, Albin was able to maintain his pace consistently. The 27-year-old ultimately finished in a strong 4th place.
“Since the first two World Cup races of the season didn’t go at all as hoped, I have to be satisfied with today’s race. I was able to push until the very end and earned some important points,” Albin analyzed after the race. Fabio Püntener took the win.
