Second Podium Finish For Keller In Leogang

Second podium finish for Keller in Leogang

At the XCO World Cup in Leogang, Austria, Team Thömus maxon once again delivered a strong overall performance. After finishing third in Friday’s short track race, Alessandra Keller secured another outstanding third-place finish in the Olympic cross-country race. In the men’s race, Mathias Flückiger impressed as the top Swiss finisher in sixth place, while Vital Albin delivered a strong 13th-place finish.

On the demanding and physically grueling course in the Salzburg region, Alessandra Keller achieved another top result. After a less-than-ideal start, she quickly found her rhythm and steadily worked her way up the field.

On the final lap, an exciting three-way battle for second through fourth place unfolded. Keller kept her cool, remained focused on her own race, and ultimately secured third place. It is her first podium finish in the XCO World Cup in Leogang. The victory went to Jenny Rissveds (SWE) ahead of Puck Pieterse (NED).

“I was able to focus fully on my own race”

“I’m very happy with this race. The start didn’t go as planned, but I quickly found my rhythm and focused entirely on my own race. The course was extremely physically demanding, and the battle for the podium spots was intense right up to the end. That makes it all the more special to be on the podium here in Leogang for the first time in XCO,” said Alessandra Keller after the race.

Flückiger battles his way to sixth place

Mathias Flückiger also put in a strong performance on one of his favorite courses. Although the start didn’t go according to plan, he once again demonstrated his class and fought his way forward, gaining position after position. After a brief slump midway through the race, Flückiger was able to pick up the pace again in the final laps and was rewarded with a strong sixth-place finish.

Vital Albin confirms improving form

Vital Albin made another strong statement. Albin put in a consistent and strong race, finishing 13th. For him, the result is an important confirmation and a clear sign that his form is continuing to improve.

For Lars Forster, the race day didn’t go well. Despite this, he never gave up and fought all the way to the finish line. At the end it was a 29th-place finish.
