Lars Forster With Strong Double-header Weekend

Lars Forster with strong double-header weekend

Lars Forster used the summer break in the racing calendar for a successful double-header, gaining valuable confidence ahead of the key events of the season. The Swiss rider finished second at the Züri Crit on Saturday before winning a C1-MTB Race in Lostorf (SUI) on Sunday.

The Züri Crit attracted a strong field and large crowds along the course in the heart of Zurich. Several established ProTour riders lined up alongside Forster. In this high-quality field, the rider from eastern Switzerland secured second place, beaten only by Swiss road professional Mauro Schmid. Cyclocross specialist Kevin Kuhn completed the podium in third.

From the city to the countryside

The following day, Forster was back on his mountain bike for the race in Lostorf. Due to strong gusts of wind, the course had to be modified at short notice for safety reasons. The race consequently developed into a tactical affair. At the start of the final lap, Forster launched his decisive attack. Despite strong headwinds on the long start-finish straight, he managed to break clear of his pursuers and held on for victory. Marcel Guerrini (SUI) and Jarne Vandersteen (BEL) completed the podium.

“I’m very happy with the weekend. After a difficult period in the middle of the season, I’m currently enjoying very good form. That gives me a lot of confidence for the races ahead,” said Forster after his victory in Lostorf.

Building momentum and confidence

While Forster used the weekend to gain valuable race rhythm under competitive conditions, the rest of the Thömus maxon squad used the break from racing for targeted preparation for the upcoming challenges. The focus now turns to the World Cup in Les Gets (FRA) and the World Championships in Val di Sole (ITA).

Forster heads to France with plenty of confidence: “I’m really looking forward to Les Gets and I’m confident that I can show my current form there.”
