Alessandra Keller crowns her perfect season
Alessandra Keller of Team Thömus maxon has won the overall ranking of the prestigious race series ÖKK Bike Revolution with her second place in Huttwil and crowned her already perfect season! Vital Albin was also convincing and finished fifth on the podium and second overall.
She is the current world number 1, overall World Cup winner in cross country and short track, won two World Cup races this season, is Swiss champion and triumphed in no less than seven races in 2022. And now Alessandra Keller also crowned herself the overall winner of the ÖKK Bike Revolution series. With a second place in the C1 race in Huttwil behind world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Fra), the 26-year-old took the red and white jersey of the overall winner – another first place this season. Keller thus relegated Dutchwoman Anne Terpstra, who had started the final race tied on points, to second place.
“Happy about this nice encore”
After an extremely demanding and muddy race, Alessandra Keller was very satisfied: “The last weeks were intense because I had many appointments and so I was certainly not at the start with full focus. But I managed the very demanding course with a constant speed.” Keller emphasized that she had competed without pressure, especially since she already had her big goals behind her. However, the world No. 1 added: “Considering the preparation for Huttwil, I am even happier about my second place today and especially about the overall victory. It’s a nice encore to a fantastic season.”
Vital Albin mixes it up at the front
Vital Albin also put in a strong performance. Although he did not manage an optimal start phase, Albin fought his way back into the fight for the podium places already in the second lap. In the extremely muddy and difficult conditions, the Thömus-maxon rider showed a strong performance in the further course of the race and was able to finish in fifth place. With this podium spot Albin reached the excellent second place in the overall ranking of the ÖKK Bike Revolution, behind the French world number 1 Titouan Carod.
