Alessandra Keller finishes sixth in the World Championships
At the World Championships in Glasgow, Alessandra finished sixth in the Short Track. Vital Albin finished 20th in the battle for the rainbow jersey.
The start of the race was a failure for Alessandra Keller. Starting from the front row, last year’s World Championship silver medalist in the short track slipped off the pedal and immediately fell far behind in the field. Keller was not discouraged by this and quickly made up position after position. In the fourth lap, before the race was halfway, the 27-year-old joined the leading group.
The pace was constantly high and Keller was not given a moment’s respite by her rivals. But Keller was in the fight for the medals. With three laps to go, there were only six riders left fighting for the medals.
«It was the maximum»
But when the final phase was launched, Keller’s strength was coming to an end. “By this time I had used a lot of energy. As a result, I was not able to determine the race as I would have liked to. I was constantly on the limit. Sixth place was the maximum I could get out of it after the bad start,” Alessandra Keller looked back after the race.
Albin with solid performance
Vital Albin showed an extremely good start in the men’s race and stayed in the top ten positions for a long time. In the final laps, however, he could not keep up with the pace of the top riders and finished the race in 20th place. He was not satisfied with the result: “Of course I had expected more than this. Nevertheless, I take positive things from the race, because I had a very good start and felt strong in the climbs.”
