Keller starts with fourth place into World Cup weekend

Alessandra Keller, the team leader of Team Thömus maxon, achieved a fourth place finish. Luke Wiedmann from Solothurn impressed with a third place and thus delivers the top result at the start of the World Series weekend.

On the physically demanding XCC circuit in Araxa, the women had a very exciting race with countless lead changes. Alessandra Keller was absolutely in control of the race until the fourth lap but was then held back by a stumble. She did not let this put her off and was able to close the gap quickly. In the end, however, she had to admit defeat to the American Blunk in the sprint for third place. The race was won by Haley Batten (USA), ahead of Indergand (SUI).

In the men’s race, the fruit hung a little too high for the riders from Thömus maxon. While Mathias Flückiger did not even start due to his ailing health, Lars Forster and Vital Albin finished 36th and 37th respectively. The thrilling race was won by Koretzky (FRA), ahead of Blevins (USA) and Hatherly (RSA).

In the U23 race, which had already been held on Thursday, youngster Luke Wiedmann put in a great race. He achieved a superb third place in a race characterised by exciting battles for position.

The cross-country races are on the programme tomorrow, Sunday.
