Keller, Flückiger and Forster score three double victories
At the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Davos, Team Thömus maxon scored three double victories. Both Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger won in superior style. Lars Forster ensured a double victory in the men’s race with his second place. In addition, both Alessandra Keller and Lars Forster lead the overall standings of the ÖKK Bike Revolution.
The two Swiss champions Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger took the momentum from their home World Cup in Crans Montana into the third race of the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Davos. Both started from training in the Alpine town of Davos and proved against strong competition that they are in excellent shape one month before the Olympic Games in Paris.
Fifth win of the season for Keller
Alessandra Keller did a kind of interval training in the eight-lap race. The Nidwalden native rode up the long climb at a very high pace, but slowed down in the transition section and on the descent. This allowed Ramona Forchini to close the gap again and again over five laps, until Keller definitely pulled away in the last third of the race and ultimately relegated Seraina Leugger and Ramona Forchini to the next places. “In view of the many highlights still to come this year, it was a training race for me. However, I was pushed hard by the competition,” Keller summarised with satisfaction at the finish. With her victory, Alessandra Keller extended her lead in the overall standings.
Flückiger’s one-man show
There was only one motto for Mathias Flückiger: “Full throttle”. The man from Oberaargau set the pace from the very first metre. Team-mate Lars Forster was the only one who was able to keep up the pace on the first lap. After that, it was a one-man show for the Olympic silver medallist from Tokyo 2020, with Flückiger ultimately winning with a lead of almost two minutes. While Keller took her fifth win of the season, Mathias Flückiger topped the podium for the first time in 2024.
Forster doubles up – twice
Lars Forster stayed in the chasing group for a long time and ensured a Thömus-maxon double victory with a perfect final lap. Forster also doubled his lead in the overall standings, where he now leads Luca Schätti by 70 points. Vital Albin also put in a strong performance and finished in 7th place.
