All Eyes On Paris

All eyes on Paris

Next Sunday and Monday, Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger will be competing at the most important sport event in Paris in the MTB Cross Country. We will shortly be presenting everything you need to know!

Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger have arrived safely in Paris. Preparations have gone according to plan for both of them in recent weeks. Now the Thömus maxon duo are confident and extremely motivated as they complete their final preparations on site in Paris.

The races will take place as follows:

Sunday, July 28, 2 p.m., women’s race with Alessandra Keller and Sina Frei

Monday, July 29, 14:00, men’s race with Mathias Flückiger, Romano Püntener and Nino Schurter

Keller: “Fighting for a medal in the best possible shape”

Alessandra Keller has been quietly preparing for her first Olympic Games at home over the past few weeks: “It means a lot to me to be competing in Paris. I have already achieved a very big goal. The road to the Olympic Games was a long process of developing into an athlete who is consistently one of the best in the world. It makes me proud to see how I have developed over the last three years. I am grateful to my team and those closest to me, who have always believed in me and supported me. I’ve prepared myself very well over the last few weeks and months so that I’m in the best possible shape for the start in Paris. I would like to fight for a medal.”

Flückiger: “No problems with pressure”

Paris 2024 will be Mathias Flückiger’s third Olympic Games. After 6th place in Rio 2016 and silver in Tokyo 2020, he is one of the medal contenders this year: “Tom Pidcock is the top gold favorite. But for me, it doesn’t matter whether I’m considered a gold contender or an outsider. Apart from Pidcock, there are quite a few other riders who could win a medal if they have a strong race day. I have no problems with the pressure that I put on myself. I’m looking forward to the start of my third Olympic Games.”

Püntener: The only rider from Liechtenstein and representative of Thömus akros Youngstars

A third Thömus rider, Romano Püntener from Liechtenstein, will also be taking part. Püntener, member of the Thömus akros Youngstars team, received a wild card, a so-called “Universality Place”. For the 20-year-old bike mechanic from Schaan, the main aim is to gain experience at this huge sporting event.

With the Thömus Lightrider R3 World Cup

In spring, Thömus and the Thömus-maxon team were able to present the new wonder weapon in the cross-country sector. The Thömus Lightrider R3 Worldcup was developed with the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in mind. With several World Cup victories and podium places, the Lightrider R3 WC has already proven that it sets new standards.
