Big disappointment for Alessandra Keller
The goals and expectations were high. But in the end, Alessandra Keller had to give up the fight for the short track medals at the World Championships in Vallnord (Andorra) early.
The start from the front row went perfectly. However, the 28-year-old dropped back a few positions in the crush of the first corners and the first steep climb. And only a short time later, Keller suffered an unspectacular crash in which she was not injured.
But the gap to the top on the extremely selective course was too big – the dream of a medal was over early. The mind decided over the heart and Alessandra Keller got out of the race early with no chance of a medal. The motto: conserve energy for the cross-country race. This marked the start of preparations for Sunday, where Keller wants to take her second chance at the World Championships.
The British rider Evie Richards became world champion. Frenchman Victor Koretzky took gold in the men’s race, without a rider from Thömus maxon at the start.
