4th place and important points for Albin
Vital Albin impressed with a strong fourth place at the season opener of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup in Rivera. In extremely nasty and muddy conditions, Albin scored important points for the world rankings and a large portion of self-confidence.
The traditional Swiss season opener at the Tamaro Trophy was once again extremely well attended internationally this year. Vital Albin quickly made up for his starting position from the fourth row. He was already in contention for a place on the podium on the first lap. The extremely slippery conditions meant that many riders suffered faults on the rocky track, causing the standings to be shaken up several times.
“I felt strong”
On the third lap, Vital Albin, who was in second position, also suffered a flat rear tire. However, the 26-year-old was able to have the damage repaired quickly in the tech zone and was already back in third place. In the end, Albin was able to secure a strong fourth place after an exhausting race. He drew a positive conclusion: “I am very satisfied with today’s race. I had a good feeling, felt strong, also technically. Today’s podium place shows me that I have been able to make further progress in recent weeks.” The winner was Timon Rüegg from Switzerland ahead of Luca Martin from France and Charly Aldridge (GB).
