Keller Finishes Second In Engelberg

Keller finishes second in Engelberg

Alessandra Keller secures second place at the Bike Revolution in Engelberg. The men from Thömus maxon did not succeed as usual and chalked up the race as valuable training for the upcoming international races.

Alessandra Keller started the race over the Olympic distance in her home area as one of the favourites to win the day. After the taxing time overseas and the high training load since then, she missed her peak performance somewhat in the race and had to let the eventual winner go. Nevertheless, she was satisfied with the result and said at the finish: ‘It was a tough race. We didn’t interpret the weather 100 per cent correctly and therefore made a slight mistake in our choice of equipment, but in the end I’m happy with another podium finish.’ The race was won by Ramona Forchini, while Seraina Leugger finished third (both Swiss).

Team boss Näf looks to the future

The men’s race did not go according to plan and the podium was a long way off for once. Team boss Ralph Näf was self-critical after the finish: ‘We fell short of our expectations. The race was basically solid, but the demands we place on ourselves are different. We are not yet back in top form after the exhausting block in South America. Our focus is now on preparing for the first European World Cup.’

The men’s podium: Marcel Guerrini, ahead of Timon Rüegg and Luca Schätti (all Swiss). Vital Albin (6th) wins the internal team duel against Lars Forster (7th).
