Great victories for Keller and Flückiger
Thömus maxon dominated the action at the Bike Revolution in Huttwil (CH). The two team leaders Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger won in front of strong competition and pulled the entire team to an outstanding result.
In the women’s race, Alessandra Keller played the leading role in the front group right from the start. On the varied course in Huttwil, she went on the offensive immediately after the start and forced the pace. After Ramona Forchini stepped up the pace, Keller reacted confidently and increased the pressure herself. Soon, only Ronja Blöchlinger, who later came third, was able to follow. Keller won the second race of the Bike Revolution with superiority, followed by Rebecca Henderson (AUS) in second place.
Keller pulls away early in the women’s race
Keller summarised afterwards: ‘This race in Huttwil marks the last day of intensive preparation for the World Cup races next week – and I’m very happy with my performance.’
Exciting battle in the men’s race
In the men’s race, the outcome remained open until the final lap. Mathias Flückiger and Nino Schurter pulled away from the field early on and engaged in a high-calibre battle of attrition. Sometimes Flückiger increased the pace, sometimes Schurter tried to distance himself from his opponent with an attack. In the final lap, Flückiger finally managed the decisive attack on his home course in the battle for the day’s victory. A happy Mathias Flückiger said at the finish line: “I’m very happy with today’s victory. It was a great battle with Nino, and I’ll take a lot of confidence with me to next weekend’s World Cup.”
Forster third, Albin fifth
Further battles for position broke out behind the duo. Lars Forster and Vital Albin raced in a strong chasing group for places 3 to 7, where the team-mates made perfect use of their numerical superiority: Forster finished third and Albin fifth. Podium rider Forster explains: “That was a tough race because I didn’t have the best legs. All the better that I was able to prevail within the group in the end,‘ and Albin adds: ’I’m happy with my form and am looking positively to the upcoming competitions.”
