Keller Wins Third Title At Swiss Champs Under Emotional Circumstances

Keller wins third title at Swiss champs under emotional circumstances

Alessandra Keller won XCO gold at the Swiss Mountain Bike Championships in Savognin! It was a win under extremely emotional circumstances.

As an all-Swiss team, Swiss championships are always extremely important to Thömus maxon. But this year, the importance of good results in top-class sport was put into perspective. The whole team is shocked and incredibly sad because Danilo Cappellari, the friend, long-time staff member and good soul of the team, died in a tragic accident at work on Friday.

It makes the whole team proud that all the riders went to the start, fought and gave their all until the end – just as Danilo would have wished.

Alessandra Keller in particular was able to impress on the race track. The 29-year-old dominated the physically demanding course, peppered with technical descents, at will and won with a commanding lead of over one and a half minutes over Sina Frei and Ginia Caluori. This is the third title for Keller after 2022 and 2023.

In the men’s race, Mathias Flückiger in fourth and Lars Forster in fifth narrowly missed out on the medals. Vital Albin finished in 14th place. Filippo Colombo took his second title in a row – ahead of Fabio Püntener and Luca Schätti.
