Episode 3 of RACE BACK HOME now online

How mountain bikes became high-tech machines. The third episode of the film series RACE BACK HOME is now online. Entitled ‘The Ride Behind the Race’, it focuses on the quiet but crucial side of top-class sport: the equipment.

Today, millimetres, clicks and seconds make all the difference – as episode 3 impressively demonstrates. Riders Alessandra Keller, Mathias Flückiger, Lars Forster and Vital Albin together with team mechanic Gavin Black and product manager Markus Eggimann, provide a unique insight behind the scenes.

Markus Eggimann says: ‘We think in terms of production cycles of two to three years. Nevertheless, we put our heart and soul into working step by step on the perfect race bike every day.’ And Lars Forster confirms: ‘Our current bike Thömus Lightrider R3 Worldcup is one of the lightest in the World Cup – and it rides like a dream downhill. This allows us to gain crucial tenths of a second in every race situation.’

The RACE BACK HOME series accompanies Team Thömus maxon on its way to the 2025 World Championships in Crans-Montana. Episode 3 tells the story of precision, teamwork and the search for the decisive detail – and how success is achieved behind the scenes.
