Alessandra Keller wins for the fourth time
Alessandra Keller got the new year off to a perfect start at the Swiss Cyclocross Championships in Schneisingen. With an early attack, the rider from Team Thömus maxon made her intentions clear and celebrated her fourth cyclocross title in commanding fashion.
The national cyclocross championships in Schneisingen offered everything a cyclocross fan could wish for. Cold temperatures and a technically and physically demanding course in the snow challenged the field at all levels.
In the women’s race, the three-way battle between former champions Alessandra Keller and Jolanda Neff and defending champion Rebekka Estermann was eagerly anticipated. However, it did not turn out to be an open three-way battle: Alessandra Keller launched her decisive attack in the second lap and left her competitors standing. With a lead of over a minute, she rode confidently to victory, securing her fourth Swiss cyclo-cross title. Jolanda Neff won silver and Rebekka Estermann bronze.
Keller: Straight on to South Africa
After the race, Keller gave a positive summary: «I am very happy with how I rode. I felt good and rode cleanly from a technical standpoint. It is my first cyclocross race this season, so I am all the happier to be taking home my fourth national championship title. Now the focus is on mountain biking, for which I am traveling to a training camp in South Africa this evening.»
Successful Youngstars
The young riders of Thömus Akros Youngstars achieved further success in the U23 category. Nicolas Halter took the title. Chiara Mettier won silver and Sven Sommer bronze.
