Alessandra Keller Secures Overall Short Track World Cup

Alessandra Keller secures overall Short Track World Cup

Big success for Alessandra Keller of Team Thömus maxon. She wins the discipline ranking in the Short Track World Cup with a third place at the World Cup final in Val di Sole (Ita).

Alessandra Keller completed the World Cup final in the Short Track (XCC) without any mistakes. Throughout the race she was present and always in the front positions. Only in the last lap did Keller have to let Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Loana Lecomte go, but behind them she secured a strong third place in a sprint against Jolanda Neff. A fifth place would have been enough to triumph in the discipline overall classification.

“The title means a lot to me.”

Keller was extremely satisfied and above all proud about the biggest success of her career: “The title means a lot to me. Very much also for all the people who supported me, who always believed in me and are part of this success.” The whole season went very well – better than she expected and dreamed, Keller analyzed after the race. “This is the crowning achievement and I am extremely proud, proud also of the whole team, which was an important part in this process,” summed up the newly crowned XCC World Cup overall winner.

Chances for the overall World Cup

Keller’s third-place finish in the XCC race allowed her to make up more points on leader Anne Terpstra in the overall standings. Before the final cross-country race on Sunday, Keller is only 43 points behind Terpstra from the Netherlands.

Vital Albin saves strength

Vital Albin started with the goal of getting a starting place in the first two rows for Sunday. However, when Albin realized that his strength and daily form were not sufficient, he deliberately slowed down his pace and finished in 37th place, thus saving his strength for Sunday, when he wants to attack again in the cross-country World Cup final.
