Keller and Flückiger win again
At the CIC ON Swiss Bike Cup in Schaan (LIE) Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger take two victories for Team Thömus maxon. Lars Foster as second ensures a double victory in the men’s race. With the fourth place of Vital Albin, the second place in the U23 classification of Luke Wiedmann all riders get a podium place.
It was a real mud battle in Schaan. Due to the continuous rainfall and the low temperatures, the athletes were demanded everything. Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger, the two Swiss champions, dominated in the elite class from the first lap and provided classic start-finish victories. As a result, Keller and Flückiger also lead the overall standings of the Swiss Bike Cup. Thanks to the extremely strong performance of the whole team, Thömus maxon also won the team ranking!
Alessandra Keller:
“I am very satisfied with my performance today. I was able to ride my own race and keep my pace controlled. Technically I didn’t make any mistakes and so I got a nice victory with a measured risk. My planning towards the World Cup start is going perfectly.”
Mathias Flückiger:
“It was a tough and very energy-sapping race. Right from the start I set a very high pace. Normally, today’s conditions are not one of my strengths. That’s why my performance today makes me feel extremely positive. I know that I’m in good shape and that my shape shows even more upwards from race to race.”
