European Championship Silver For Forster, C2 Victory For Albin

European Championship silver for Forster, C2 victory for Albin

Successful Sunday for the team Thömus maxon! Lars Forster won the silver medal at the European Championships in Krakow, Poland. Vital Albin, who could not start at the European Championships because of exams, won the C2 race of the CIC ON Swiss Bike Cup in Savognin.

Lars Forster was able to prove again his whole class at the European Championships. In an extremely exciting race, in which ten riders were still together two laps before the end, Forster behaved tactically perfect. He was always present in the first positions and still had enough strength in the final of the race to secure silver 14 seconds behind the Romanian winner Vlad Dascalu.

“Happy about silver”
“I won silver today. I was ready to act or react at any time. In the second last lap I tried to break away with the Italian Luca Braidot. But unfortunately we could not pull this off. Vlad was the strongest in the last laps and therefore deserved to be European Champion. I was pretty much at the limit and very happy that I could win the silver medal”, a satisfied Lars Forster summarized shortly after the award ceremony.

Vital Albin had to miss the European Championships this year because he had to take semester exams in the same week as part of his law studies. Nevertheless, Albin climbed into the racing saddle. Spontaneously he decided to compete in the C2 race of the Swiss Bike Cup in Savognin, near his home town Chur.

Second victory in a row for Albin in Savognin
The decision paid off, as Albin repeated his victory in Savognin from the previous year and also extended his lead in the overall standings. “I am very satisfied that I was able to win today. The other riders didn’t make it easy for me. Only with my attacks in the last two laps I was able to pull away and take the victory. Winning is always nice and motivates me in view of the World Cup in Val die Sole next weekend”, Vital Albin was satisfied after the race.

Keller sick, Flückiger on the road
While Alessandra Keller had to cancel her start at the European Championships due to a cold, Mathias Flückiger competed at the Swiss Road Championships in Wetzikon as preparation for the World Cup in Val di Sole. Flückiger finished 20th in the race won by Marc Hirschi.
