Double strike by Keller and Forster in Davos

Alessandra Keller and Lars Forster won the ÖKK Bike Revolution race in Davos on Sunday, July 9. With the second place of Vital Albin the team Thömus maxon could deliver a perfect weekend. In addition, Luke Wiedmann ensured a brilliant result in the colors of the national team with his fifth place at the U23 European Championships in Anadia.

The first edition of the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Davos could not have gone better. On a hot summer day the Thömus maxon trio Alessandra Keller, Lars Forster and Vital Albin convinced. In the women’s race Alessandra Keller already said goodbye to her pursuers in the second of eight laps. The world number 1 was able to continuously increase her lead and took a commanding victory ahead of Nicole Koller and Sina Frei with a large margin.

Alessandra Keller: “It was a perfect race for me. I was able to control and thus take a great victory. For me, this is a perfect start to the build-up towards the World Championships!”

Forster does the same as Keller
A similar course of the race as in the women’s race was also seen in the men’s race. Here it was Lars Forster, the winner of the World Cup in Leogang, who was able to break away in the second lap. Behind him a trio formed with Vital Albin, Joel Roth and Nino Schurter. Thanks to two very fast last laps, Vital Albin prevailed over Nino Schurter and secured second place. The double victory of Thömus maxon was perfect.

Lars Forster: “That was a great race. I had planned to go fast in the second lap. After this increase in speed I also pulled away. Because of this effort I had to go pretty deep. But I managed to keep up the pace and take this first place to the finish. It’s very cool to win here and to be able to celebrate a double victory togther with Vital.”

Wiedmann with strong European Championship race
U23 rider Luke Wiedmann wore the colors of the national team last weekend. At the European Youth Championships in Anadia (Por), Wiedmann took a strong 5th place in the XCO race of the U23 category. Two days earlier Wiedmann finished 10th in the short track race, which was held as an Elite European Championship.
