Wiedmann’s first C1 victory before the World Cup final
Last Sunday, Luke Wiedmann won a C1 Elite Men race for the first time in his career. At the season finale of the CIC Swiss Bike Cup in Lenzerheide, he relegated the reigning Swiss champion Filippo Colombo to second place. A perfect start to the end of the season, with the last two World Cups scheduled for the next two weekends.
After several health setbacks, Luke Wiedmann, the U23 rider from Thömus maxon, regained his strength and won the C1 race of the Swiss Bike Cup in Lenzerheide in a hard-fought duel. Wiedmann and Filippo Colombo fought an exciting duel right to the end, which was only decided in Wiedmann’s favor in the last two corners.
“Perfect preparation for the WC final”
“It’s cool to be able to win a race against a strong rider like Filippo. We didn’t give each other anything and kept attacking each other throughout the race. I’m happy to finally be healthy again and to be able to perform as I had hoped. That was the perfect preparation for the World Cup final overseas,” said a very satisfied Wiedmann after the race.
Next Saturday and Sunday, the second-to-last World Cup will take place in Lake Placid (USA) before the last two WC races in the XCC and XCO in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, on the first weekend of October (Friday and Sunday).
Overall World Cup in focus for Alessandra Keller
The entire Thömus maxon team flew to the USA on Monday and is extremely motivated as it prepares for the two final highlights of the 2024 racing season. For Alessandra Keller, it’s all about the XCC discipline World Cup, as well as the overall classification. The current world number two is aiming for her second overall World Cup victory after 2022.
