Strong performance in Haiming with a win and second place
Team Thömus maxon can look back on a successful race day at the Ötztaler Mountain Bike Festival in Haiming (Austria). Alessandra Keller impressed in the women’s race with a commanding start-to-finish victory, whilst Lars Forster took second place in the men’s race.
Keller dominated the race from the outset and clearly prevailed on the technically demanding yet fast course. With a consistently strong performance, she relegated her compatriots Ginia Caluori and Ramona Forchini to second and third places.
Lars Forster also put in a strong performance. He finished second behind the American winner Bjorn Riley. For Forster, the race was a final important test ahead of the World Cup opener in South Korea this coming weekend. Having only arrived on race day, he lacked knowledge of the course in places and struggled to choose the optimal line on the technically demanding track. Despite a mechanical issue halfway through the race, Forster managed to secure another podium finish. “The feeling is good,” was his conclusion after the race.
Whilst Alessandra Keller is sitting out the World Cup opener in South Korea to focus on another block of road races, the team – comprising Lars Forster, Mathias Flückiger and Vital Albin – will travel to South Korea on Monday, where the first World Cup of the season takes place this coming weekend.
