Strong performances by Keller, Albin and Wiedmann at Worlds

The Thömus maxon trio Keller, Albin and Wiedmann convinced at the World Championships in Les Gets (Fra) in the cross-country race. Alessandra Keller fought for the medals for a long time and finished as an excellent fifth – her best World Cup result. Vital Albin took 15th place in his first elite world championship after a great chase and Luke Wiedmann convinced with 9th place in the U23 race.

With rain coming down and difficult track conditions Keller and Jenny Rissveds (SWE) had a thrilling duel at the top.
With a brilliant last lap Keller managed to take the lead, distance Rissveds and take her first World Cup victory.

Brilliant Vital Albin steps into the breach

After the two victories last Friday, it didn’t look like a brilliant result for the Thömus maxon team at the beginning on Sunday. But in the absence of team leader Mathias Flückiger, young Vital Albin finished in a fine sixth place. Alessandra Keller rode into the top 10 in eighth place.

Thömus maxon double strike by Keller and Flückiger

Alessandra Keller and Mathias Flückiger both win the XCC World Cup race in Vallnord (Andorra) and provide a one-two punch for the Thömus maxon team. Keller thus took her second World Cup victory in short track at the same place as in 2018. Mathias Flückiger was able to place himself in the middle of the short track podium for the fourth time overall. With this result, Keller closed the gap in the interim World Cup ranking to the previous leader McConnell. Flückiger was even able to extend his lead.
